Get ready, adventurers! Applications for VIA Chapter II will open on 30.11.2024, and close at midnight on 15.12.2024. This year, we invite you to join us on a journey inspired by the legendary Roman general, Germanicus, and push your limits as we traverse an epic route through history.

A journey inspired by greatness

In 15 BCE, Germanicus—one of the last of the Caesars—earned his name after his father’s victorious campaigns beyond the Rhine. Known for his bravery, Germanicus led the Roman armies on a campaign of vengeance against the Germanic tribes, pushing as far as the river Elbe. The Romans admired him, comparing him to Alexander the Great.

In Chapter II, we’re following his legendary path, starting in Giovinazzo and moving north. Riders will cross the Apennines, the Alps, and then venture through Germania, ultimately reaching the Netherlands. This journey isn’t just about racing; it’s about embodying the spirit of discovery, endurance, and resilience that Germanicus himself represented.

A new chapter for rookies and under-represented riders

While our application process prioritizes experienced ultracyclists, we’re committed to creating space for under-represented groups. Rookie spots will be limited, but we’re collaborating with our partners to expand our Rookie Road programme, offering support in coaching, premium clothing, and bikepacking essentials. This initiative is designed to reduce financial barriers and improve success rates for first-timers, ensuring that VIA remains accessible and inclusive.
