First Ola de calor, then canicule, and eventually ondata di calore. Not even the mountains offered relief—on top of Nivolet, it was still around 30°C most days. Crossing borders didn’t help escape the heat. Last year, it’s safe to say, our elephants weren’t particularly lucky with the weather.
But hey, it’s summer in southern Europe—what were you expecting?
Fair enough, summer is one thing, but this was something else entirely. Temperatures were anomalous across Spain, France, and Italy. And in Italy—where everyone was already exhausted—they barely dropped at all. We’re talking 32–35°C as a baseline, with peaks of 38–39°C in Tuscany. Not exactly ideal for recovery.
This year, we’re heading north. The start will be challenging, but after that, what’s in store? The question is simple: will we ride through fresh, cool weather in central Europe, or will we bring the Mediterranean heat with us?
What’s your take—your experience, your hope, or your worst nightmare?
